Chennai,

5 people who were injured in the fire that broke out yesterday in a food cooking hall on Dewan Bhashyam Street in Saidapet, Chennai, have been admitted to the intensive care unit of Kilpakkam Government Hospital. Minister of Medicine and People’s Welfare M. Subramanian personally met them and consoled them and asked the doctors about the treatment methods being given to them. At that time, Director of Medical Education Dr. Santhimalar, Medical Superintendent Dr. Anita was with him.

Following this, Mr. Subramanian told reporters:-

The incident of the fire incident in Saidapet, Chennai was an artificial incident. In this, 2 people have been affected by 2 percent, 2 people by 40 percent, and one person by 32 percent. Doctors are fighting hard to save all 5 people. Police are actively investigating the incident.

Also, in 2019, Prime Minister Modi came directly to Madurai and laid the foundation stone of AIIMS Hospital. At that time, A.D.M.K. The government provided 200 acres of land for construction. The central government asked for an additional 22 acres of land. That land has also been given.

However, the central minister has said that the construction work was not completed because of the delay in allotment of land in Parliament, which is not acceptable. Chief Minister M. K. Stalin has been urging the Prime Minister in person and through letters to complete the AIIMS Madurai hospital as soon as possible.

Similarly, we have insisted on building a new AIIMS hospital in Coimbatore. Apart from Madurai, the central government provided funds for the construction of AIIMS hospitals in other states. But they said that Japan’s JICA will provide funding only to Tamil Nadu.

Last week when I was in Japan, I attended a meeting of top officials of JICA. At that time, we said that funds for Madurai AIIMS Hospital should be provided quickly. In the meeting, they said that the construction work of Madurai AIIMS would start by the end of 2024 and be completed by the end of 2028.

This is the reality. It is not correct for the central government to say that the hospital work is complete. Similarly, 70 thousand to 80 thousand people suffer from cancer every year. We are taking measures to prevent the effects of cancer caused by the environment.

This is what he said.
