The work on the construction of the 7th and 8th units of the Kozloduy NPP is proceeding according to the schedule set by the National Assembly, MPs Delyan Dobrev and Stanislav Anastasov announced today in Kozloduy.

Dobrev, who is the chairman of the energy committee in the parliament, recalled that the decision of the National Assembly has set deadlines and requirements for the contractor. According to one of the deadlines until April 15, “Hyundai” had to confirm that they will meet the requirements of the National Assembly for a fixed price, construction period, more than 30% of the subcontractors during the construction to be from Bulgaria. According to Dobrev yesterday The Energy Commission received a report from “Kozloduy NPP – New capacities”, which informs the people’s representatives that everything that has been set as a condition has been accepted and can be continued, BTA reported.

“This time, unlike Belene, this project is structured in the most correct way – we do not order equipment without securing financing, without having a contract and without knowing how much this plant will cost,” said Delyan Dobrev.

According to him, what lies ahead in the next one year is the negotiation of the specific parameters regarding the price, structuring of the financing for the entire project and making a final investment decision that will make the construction of the 7th and 8th units irreversible. According to expectations, the signing of the IPC contract with the contractor company should be before the end of next year, and the actual start of construction – shortly after, Delyan Dobrev also explained.

People’s representative Stanislav Anastasov added that the most modern technology currently available will be used in the two new blocks.

The two were today at the Kozloduy NPP site together with Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev and Minister of Energy Vladimir Malinov to welcome the first delivery of fresh nuclear fuel made by Westinghouse for Unit 5 of our nuclear power plant.
