According to the head of the working group of the Department of Statistics, Victoria Trasanov, compared to September last year, in September the consumer price index was most affected by the rise in prices for food and non-alcoholic drinks, which accounted for half of the total increase in the index. Compared to September last year, meat and meat products rose in price by 12.6%, flour, flour products and cereal products – by 11.9%, fruits – by 16.7%, and sugar, confectionery and canned goods – by 11. 5%. Mineral water, soft drinks and juices increased in price by 10.3%.

“Changes in prices related to housing (-6.9%) as well as motor fuel also had a significant impact on the change in the index, since gasoline was cheaper by 3.8% and diesel fuel by 10.2%,” she added. Trasanov.

The last time the consumer price index changed from the same month last year was less than 4.2% was in June 2021, when it was 3.8%.
