The Superintendency of the Solidarity Economy has made the decision to intervene in the Cooperativa Multiactiva de Servicios Solidarios, Copservir Ltda, the entity that manages Drogas La Rebaja, due to alleged unsafe or unauthorized financial and administrative practices.
According to the control body, the intervention is based on the lack of coherence in the information provided by Copservir to Supersolidaria, which makes it impossible to understand the true situation of the cooperative.
The Superintendency declared that “We found that Copservir allegedly failed to comply with its statutes by approving matters for which it was not called at an extraordinary general assembly meeting; Likewise, she allegedly entered into a contract without authorization from the judge who was aware of the domain forfeiture action that concerned her property and assets.
In addition, Supersolidaria expressed its concern about Copservir’s financial reports, which, they claim, do not adequately reflect the economic events derived from an enforceable judgment of domain forfeiture of July 11, 2022. This judgment confirmed the extinction of the assets. and assets of the cooperative in favor of the State, due to its alleged connection with illicit activities related to drug trafficking.
With more than 5,900 associates and workers, Copservir’s intervention will focus on safeguarding and guaranteeing the well-being of its social base, as declared by Supersolidaria.
The history of Copservir dates back more than 27 years, when the cooperative’s workers partnered to establish one of the largest pharmacy chains in Colombia. Over the years, they have expanded their presence to 202 municipalities in the country, with more than 1,030 commercial establishments and the creation of more than 6,700 direct jobs.
It is important to highlight that in 2021, the Superintendency of the Solidarity Economy had ordered the lifting of the takeover measure that managed the assets, assets and businesses of Copservir.
Copservir’s intervention marks a milestone in the country’s solidarity economy, raising questions about management and transparency in cooperatives and similar entities.
