The Provincial Court of A Corua concluded that Miguel Ángel Aguilar Palazuelos stabbed his friend 19 times and eliminated the evidence

Once a popular jury unanimously found the accused of murder guilty of the crime in the neighborhood of Las Floresin A Corua, the judge imposed this Friday the sentence that must be served, and that adds 21 years in prison. The Provincial Court of A Corua, based on the verdict of the people’s court, came to the conclusion that Miguel Ángel Aguilar Palazuelos killed his friend at the latter’s house to avoid returning the money he owed him, which amounted to 3,000 euros. It happened in September 2021. I gave him 19 points and did everything possible to eliminate evidence that could implicate him.
As Diego Reboredo, the lawyer representing the family of the deceased, considered, the defendant made an appointment with Francisco Javier Lata Faraldo, whom he had known for years, in order to pay him an amount of money that he owed.
The defendant, despite having a stable job at Renfe —he was a train driver—, was in a distressing financial situation, mainly due to the expenses generated by his addiction to cocaine. He owed money to other people and to various credit, business, and supply companies.
That day, the victim telephoned the defendant from his home and had a conversation with him for a few seconds. Half an hour later, the investigated sent a message to Francisco Javier in which he said: I’m going out there.
The defendant left his house and went to Francisco Javier’s home in his car and turned off his phone. Once inside, the accused pounced on the victim and killed him, the court concludes.
