Secretary General of BNP Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has expressed his concern over the denial of bail to BNP members and affiliated organizations and other leaders and sent to jail. He said that the entire country has been turned into a prison by sending the opposition leaders and activists to jail.

He said these things in a press release on Monday (April 29) afternoon regarding the government’s support of opposition leaders and activists in false cases and jailing them through denial of bail.

Jubo Dal Central Committee President Sultan Salauddin Tuku, BNP Executive Committee Member SM Obaidul Haque Nasir and Kurigram District BNP Joint General Secretary Sohel Hosnain Kaykobad and other leaders have been denied bail and sent to jail.

The BNP Secretary General commented that the Awami ruling group has become more reckless, authoritarian and tyrannical after seizing power through dummy elections on January 7.

He said that in order to maintain the illegal state power, the occupying government brought down the sword of oppression and persecution on the people of different opinions and paths, including BNP’s organs and affiliated organizations.

Mirza Fakhrul said that because the rule of law and good governance have disappeared from the country, the activists participating in the democratic struggle are being deprived of justice. A totalitarian anarchy has spread in the country. Awami’s illegal ruling group is spreading fear and panic from city to village to prolong their misrule.
