In Coimbatore, police have arrested a couple who mysteriously killed a taxi driver by injecting him with poison for money. Money, laptop and cellphone were confiscated from them.

Sanu, a private taxi driver in Vadavalli Onapalayam area, mysteriously died on the 9th. His relatives and fellow taxi drivers protested at the government hospital premises, refusing to accept the body, claiming his death was suspected following various injuries to his body.

His body was recovered yesterday following a police statement that appropriate action would be taken. The incident was investigated by 4 special teams on the orders of District Superintendent of Police Selva Nagaratnam. During the investigation, Stephen, a resident of Thondamuthur area, was interrogated on the 8th to find out that he was traveling in the taxi.

An inquest into Stephen’s investigation revealed that he and his wife executed the driver for money, injecting him with poison and injecting him with poison. Police subsequently arrested both men. Under the tree used for the murder, 6100 rupees cash, more than 20 laptops and cell phones were confiscated from them.

Following this, the police are taking steps to imprison both of them.
Investigations have revealed that two cases of murder and arson have already been registered against the two in Chennai and its environs.
