Two weeks after the revelation of the disturbing incident at Asuta Hospital in Rishon Lezion, the couple who went through the fertilization procedure and discovered that the fetus belonged to another couple were interviewed this evening (Wednesday) by News 12 and spoke for the first time about their feelings surrounding the incident. They also clarified that they intend to keep and raise the girl themselves after the birth.

“In the seventh month we made a decision to do the procedure which we did knowing that it was our girl. After the procedure we did they wanted to know more about the girl and then they said ‘Wait, something is not right here,'” they said. “We did another, more in-depth examination and then they revealed this news to us. We are inside the maximum of emotions that can be in such a thing.”

In their words, they attacked the hospital for the omission and said that “this is not normal, this is actually the only role they have and this is where they screw up. To take something that is ours, something pure from ours and do the exact opposite. This girl, from the first second she was taken in, we are counting the minutes. From the first second, nine months we count the minutes until this girl comes out.”

When asked about their feelings, the couple admitted that they feel confused: “It’s not normal, it’s hard to put into words. It takes time to sink in this whole issue. I was sitting in the garden yesterday, I’m looking at children and I’m trying to see if it was my daughter going out or if it was My daughter used to go out – we eat movies.”

However, the couple clarified that “they wanted to know where our position is regarding this issue, and we answered in a second that this girl is ours and there is no thought for a moment. Even with all the dilemma and with everything that has happened, we do not even hesitate or think about any other position on this issue.”

In response, Assuta Hospital stated that “Assuta expresses regret for the rare incident that occurred in the IVF unit in Rishon Lezion. This is a tragic human error and Assuta is doing everything in its power to find advanced solutions to improve the process, so that such an incident will never happen again.”
