On September 20, the Israel Police received a report about a suspected indecent act on a 10-year-old minor by an unknown person, while he was waiting for a bus on Shelavim Street in Jaffa.

Jaffa station police officers began searches during which the suspect, a 40-year-old resident of Jaffa, was located, and he was detained for questioning at the station. The suspect’s detention was extended in court and at the request of his defense attorney, a ban on the publication of his name was imposed.

In another detention extension hearing that took place yesterday (Thursday), the Magistrate’s Court extended the suspect’s detention until Sunday (2.10) and removed the ban on publishing his name. An appeal he submitted to my district was also rejected.

The police stated: “As the investigation progressed, the suspicion grew stronger that the suspect may be involved in other crimes with similar characteristics, and therefore we appeal to anyone who fears that one of his acquaintances has been harmed by the suspect to contact the Jaffa police station at 03-6802222 or the 100 hotline. The suspect’s name: Yonatan Tal General.”
