The Gagarinsky District Court of Moscow has arrested the former head of the Main Directorate for the Arrangement of Troops, Yevgeny Gorbachev, until December 27, on charges of fraud, the press service of the Moscow city courts reported.

“By the decision of the Gagarinsky District Court of the city of Moscow dated October 28, 2021, the investigation’s petition for the election of a preventive measure against Yevgeny Alexandrovich Gorbachev in the form of detention for a period of 2 months was satisfied,” the message says.

Gorbachev is accused of committing a crime under Part 4 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud on an especially large scale), the press service indicated. The defense petition to choose a softer measure of restraint was dismissed.

Earlier, Kommersant reported on the arrest of the former general director of Spetsstroy-1, Alexander Ashgibisov, and the founder of the company, Yevgeny Gorbachev, on suspicion of a particularly large-scale fraud. They seized working documents, communications and computers, the contents of which, according to the police, will help find the stolen money. The suspects themselves deny guilt. According to the investigation, the leaders of Spetsstroy-1, together with unknown persons, did not fulfill their obligations in full and stole 232.5 million rubles, transferring them to the accounts of the controlled companies Formatika and Sanplast on the basis of fictitious contracts.
