The Intellectual Property Court rejected the cassation appeal of the Swiss company Sqwin SA, which demanded that Samsung Electronics and its Russian subsidiary be banned from selling smartphones that support the Samsung Pay payment service. Previously, Sqwin SA filed for the revocation of a South Korean company’s patent for payment technology.

“The decision of the Ninth Arbitration Court of Appeal … to be left unchanged, the cassation appeal of a foreign person Sqwin SA … – without satisfaction,” follows from the documentation posted in the filing cabinet of arbitration cases.

In March, the Arbitration Court overturned a ruling that prevented Samsung Electronics and its Russian subsidiary from selling smartphones with Samsung Pay in Russia. According to representatives of Sqwin SA, Samsung uses inventions without the consent of the copyright holder.
