In memory of those killed in a violent accident in Sofia, relatives and sympathizers of Ani and Yavor are gathering today in front of the Courthouse before the hearing of the case in the Sofia Court of Appeal. Their protest is demanding justice for the death of the two young people.
On July 4, the Sofia City Court sentenced Adrian Antonov to nine years in prison and found him guilty of death by negligence on a pedestrian crossing on “Slivnitsa” Boulevard. After the disciplinary hearing, he made a confession and requested that the trial be conducted in an abbreviated order , and the court agreed, Antonov’s sentence was reduced by a third, and he was sentenced to six years in prison.
Two months later, appeals have already been filed by all the victims’ lawyers before the appeals court. Some want an increase in the punishment, while others want the second instance to impose the heaviest possible sentence.
The tragedy happened on May 8 last year. His sentence was reduced by 1/3 because of his guilty plea. Today is the first hearing of the case at the second instance, reports NOVA.
