On January 29, the Baku Court of Appeals reviewed the complaint filed by the member of the Workers’ Table Trade Unions Confederation, Mohyeddin Orujov, regarding the ban on meeting and telephone calls with his family members. This was reported by lawyer Nazim Musayev. According to the lawyer, the Court of Appeal considered the Surakhani District Court’s decision illegal:

“The court annulled the decision. Mohyeddin said that he also has health problems, he is worried about his kidneys. He is also dissatisfied with the conditions of detention. About 20 people stay in a 10-person cell in the detention center.”

Social activist Mohyeddin Orujovun was detained on December 13.

According to Moheddin Orujov’s mother, she only had the opportunity to speak with her son for a few minutes in court.

Mohyeddin Orujov told me that he was threatened. They told him that if you don’t sign the required statements, your mother will be brought here.”

It was not possible to learn the attitude of the Ministry of Internal Affairs regarding the issue.

On December 15, the Surakhani District Court sentenced public activist Mohyeddin Orujova under Article 234.4.3 of the Criminal Code (Illegal preparation, production, acquisition, storage, transportation, shipment or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their precursors, in large quantities) ) chose a preventive measure of 4 months’ imprisonment.

Before that, the social activist received an administrative prison sentence on October 18. He said that he was tortured in the 32nd police station of the Surakhani District Police Department.

By the decision of Mohyeddin Orujov Surakhani District Court, he was sentenced to 30 days in prison and fined 200 manats.
