The Lefortovo District Court has postponed consideration of the criminal case against opposition leader Alexei Navalny until February 21, a Kommersant correspondent reports. The politician is being tried on charges of contempt of court and fraud. During today’s visiting session in the Vladimir colony where he is imprisoned, Navalny pleaded not guilty and called the new case against himself fabricated.

The meeting on the criminal case took place today, February 15, in Pokrovskaya IK-2, where Alexei Navalny is serving a two and a half year sentence in the Yves Rocher case for fraud. There are six episodes in the new case: four under the article on fraud (part 4 of article 159 of the Criminal Code) and two under the article on contempt of court (part 1, part 2 of article 297 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). During the meeting, the defense of Alexei Navalny was denied a request to return a new criminal case to the prosecutor’s office.
