The aerospace company PLD Spacecreator of the Miura rocket, will be the in charge of developing the first Spanish small satellite launcher. “We want to be the first in Europe to have this cutting-edge technology,” said this Friday the Minister of Science, Innovation and Universities, Diana Morant, after announcing the selection of this company from Elche for this project. As Morant explained in an interview with EL PERIÓDICO, this is one of the “most ambitious projects” that the Spanish space sector has embarked on so far and which seeks, once again, to strengthen this scientific and industrial sector.

The creators of Miura have been selected in the selection process launched by the Ministry of Science a year ago within the framework of PERTE Aerospace and with financing from European funds. Among the finalists, as Morant recalled in a talk with this newspaper, the Catalan company Pangea also stood out. But finally, as announced this Thursday, PLD Space will be in charge of “the development, verification, validation and construction of the prototype” of the first Spanish microsatellite launcher.

In this sense, in the last year the Spanish Space Agency has been officially launched, the first suborbital rocket has been launched with 100% Spanish technology and the first collaboration agreement has been signed with the Artemis mission of return to the Moon.
