The news that Fotini Demiri and Haris Grigoropoulos have decided to go their separate ways after many years of working together came like a lightning bolt. Indeed, Fotini Demiri confirmed the news to TLife, saying: “Yes, we are divorced. But we are a family. We do not stop being a family and loving each other. We have separated as a couple but we do not stop being family and in our relatives.”
In the past the two talked about the crises in their marriage, but also the fact that they got married because a pregnancy arose and it wouldn’t have happened otherwise. “Many times we came close to breaking up, but there is love. We are friends above all else. Sometimes we drift apart but then together again. The most important thing is that we are both good friends, we have a good time together,” Fotini Demiri admitted in an interview she gave to Sozi magazine in August 2022.
“My husband and I have been married for 30 years. It is not easy to live with someone for so many years, with children and especially when you are in the marriage contract. This makes things more difficult. I am against marriage. Of course I compromised on some things so that the family could be there. I wanted to have a family for the children, because they needed it. And of course I was giving up on a lot of things. There were crises in the marriage that could lead to the separation” the actress also announced to Eleni in March 2024, and recently she admitted to Athenaida Nega about the marriage:
“I’m in a transitional phase where I want to deal with myself and my work completely, so that’s what I see. I am against marriage in this sense: If it were up to me, I would not marry. I had two parents, we were younger and I didn’t want to hurt them. We had said we would get married if we had a child, and so it happened. We didn’t want to get married generally and indefinitely, otherwise we said we would stay partners. I don’t even tell my kids to get married”
On the other hand, Haris Grigoropoulos had spoken about their marriage, which was not in their plans: “We met at school from the first days we were enrolled. We did a touch lesson and met each other with our eyes closed. I proposed marriage out of necessity, I don’t think we would have married if we didn’t have a child. The child we married is not there because we lost him afterwards, but after two years our Marina came and after four years our Titos. We have been married 30 years and together even longer.
We came close to breaking up many times, after many fights, but in the end we got it out. The family is close to us.”
