Ile-de-France residents leave the capital to settle in rural departments.
The Covid crisis and the successive confinements of the past two years have given French people and in particular Ile-de-France residents a desire to go elsewhere.

Between April 2020 and April 2021, the number of moves beyond 100 kilometers from Paris jumped by 34%. This represents 4,000 more movements in the space of a year, according to a note published Wednesday by the statistical service of the Ministry of Labor, Dares.
This dynamic greatly benefits the rural departments, since removals to these areas increased by 2.3 points, from 26.3% to 28.6%. Added to this is also a phenomenon of distance from the city center in the five largest French urban units, with an increase of 0.4 points in departures to municipalities in the peri-urban ring and by 0.8 points in departures from the area of ”attraction of metropolises”.
