Sharjah വെള്ളിയാഴ്ച Friday sermons and prayers in mosques in Sharjah will continue at current times. This is because the weekend in other emirates changes to January 1, while in Sharjah the weekend is arranged on Fridays (full day), Saturday and Sunday.

The Sharjah Islamic Affairs Department said there would be no delay during Friday prayers. Kovid urged believers to follow all security measures. Earlier it was announced that Friday sermons and prayers will be held in all churches in the UAE from 1.15 pm on January 1, 2022, as the country moves to its new weekend holiday schedule. Friday will be the new weekend in all emirates except Sharjah with half-day, Saturday and Sunday.

Accordingly, federal government employees will work until 12 noon on Friday. This will enable the staff to be a part of the Friday prayers. Government employees can make arrangements to work from home on Fridays and adjust their working hours on a flexi-time basis. However, Sharjah has announced a three-day weekend. Holidays for government employees in the emirate will continue on Saturdays and Sundays as well as Fridays. Schools will follow the same working week.
