For decades, SPAR Hungary has been working consistently to ensure that domestic customers can choose from as many Hungarian products as possible on its store shelves, and with a number of initiatives, it helps domestic small and family businesses to enter the market. This year, the audience rewarded this with a prestigious award.

Supporting the market access of Hungarian products is SPAR’s basic philosophy, a real success story, in which all actors benefit. The store chain works with nearly 20,000 items, among which the high-quality branded products recognized by both customers and the profession stand out. More than 90 percent of the food sold comes from domestic sources, and this number will continue to increase in the future in accordance with the company’s goals. Thus, domestic family and small businesses are also winners of this endeavor, since if their products appear in the stores of a large commercial chain, their own businesses can also develop further. They can provide jobs for even more people, while their production, logistics and business experience can continue to grow. However, the real winners are mostly the customers, who can trust the products bearing the trademark, knowing that they are high-quality goods produced with the cooperation of Hungarian producers or from domestic raw materials.

SPAR Hungary consciously helps Hungarian products reach the market through several programs and initiatives: one of them is the Treasures of Regions program, which provides assistance to small family companies producing agricultural and food products. And their products with the red apple logo also show customers that by purchasing them, they are directly supporting domestic small producers.

Hungaricool, which is 4 years old this year, is a product competition in which Hungarian farmers and family businesses can enter their quality products produced in Hungary. SPAR prepared the best ones with professional training for entering the shelves of INTERSPAR hypermarkets, thereby helping their development.

SPAR is also at the forefront of promoting quality Hungarian food products with its own brand products. In addition, some of the meat products, deli meats and convenience products available in its stores are made in the company’s food production plants in Bicske, Perbál and Anőlő, and the raw materials processed here also come largely from domestic farms.

Customers appreciate SPAR’s efforts

This year, the Customer Level Award for Hungarian Products was awarded for the first time, based on the votes of customers. In the research, 7,000 people gave answers about their shopping habits related to Hungarian Product branded products, and nearly a quarter of those who filled out the questionnaire indicated the SPAR store chain as the location of their favorite Hungarian Product branded products. Thus, for the first time in the history of the award, SPAR Hungary won the Customer Level Award for Hungarian Products, which was accepted by President and CEO Gabriella Heiszler. In addition, the company received the silver medal of the 2023 Hungarian Products Commercial Level Award from the professional jury.
