Orientalist at Bar Ilan University Discusses Ceasefire on Radio

Today, Dr. Mordechai Kider, an Orientalist at Bar Ilan University, appeared on Radio North 104.5FM to discuss the recent ceasefire and the potential for a return to fighting. In his conversation with host Gadi Ness, Kider expressed concern that the war may end without achieving the goals that were originally set.

Kider began by criticizing the current state of Israeli society, comparing it to the militant society that existed during the War of Liberation in 1948. He argued that the decline of the national spirit has led to a society more focused on material possessions and personal comforts. He also voiced his belief that the media has contributed to the portrayal of Israel as a “nation of rags,” and criticized the excessive emotional reporting on abductions.

According to Kider, the current situation in Israel reflects a larger issue of attempting to uproot Judaism from the country. He expressed frustration with the government’s handling of the war and accused various organizations of promoting a post-Jewish and post-Israeli agenda.

In addition to his comments on the state of Israeli society, Kider also discussed the release of Thai abductees by Hamas. He shared a rumor that the prime minister of Thailand had threatened to kill Palestinian prisoners held in Thai jails if the Thais were not released, suggesting that this may have influenced Hamas’s decision.

Kider also emphasized the difference in the laws of war between Israel and Hamas, arguing that Hamas operates outside of the international political definition and is not bound by the same rules as a state. He condemned Hamas’s actions as being outside of civilization and blamed their behavior on their interpretation of Islamic law.

The interview ended with Kider’s plea for a stronger, more decisive Israeli response to the ongoing conflict. He asserted that Israel must be willing to take more aggressive actions to protect its citizens and ensure its national security.
