the data of more than 500,000 French people stolen

The hackers managed to connect to the professional accounts of 19 caregivers whose email addresses had been compromised.

The computer accounts of 19 health professionals, mainly pharmacists, were hacked and the administrative data of more than 500,000 policyholders stolen, said Thursday the Health Insurance, which filed a complaint.

The attack was detected “last weekend”details the National Health Insurance Fund (Cnam) in a press release: “unauthorized persons” have connected to “amelipro accounts” of 19 caregivers including “email addresses had been compromised”. Contacted by AFP, the Cnam specifies that the professionals in question are “mainly pharmacists” and explains that the hackers presumably retrieved their usernames and passwords “from the dark web”, which allowed them to directly access or reset the accounts.

Policyholders informed in the coming days

Using computer robots, they were then able to recover “in chain” identity data (surname, first name, date of birth), Social Security numbers and information on rights (attending doctor, 100% coverage) of at least 510,000 insured persons, who will all be “individually informed” in the next few days.

On the other hand, the hacked files did not contain any contact (address, telephone) or bank details, nor data on illnesses or the consumption of care, underlines the Cnam, which warned the Cnil on Wednesday before filing a complaint on Thursday.
