Manama: The deadline has expired for those who came to Bahrain illegally to contact the authorities to correct their documents. Until yesterday, the date was granted to expatriates who were living and working illegally without sufficient documents.
The country’s Labor Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) has asked those without proper residence documents and those still on flexi permits that have been revoked to legalize their work and residence. Nationwide inspections will be held in the coming days as the deadline for correcting documents expires. It warned that legal action and other measures, including deportation, would be taken against those found to be living or working illegally in the country.
