Official media in Burma reported on Sunday that the death toll from floods caused by Cyclone Yagi had risen to 74 people.

The Global New Light of Myanmar newspaper reported that “74 dead and 89 missing” in Burma as a result of Friday afternoon floods.
According to official figures, floods and landslides killed 350 people in Burma, Vietnam, Laos and Thailand after Cyclone Yagi, which hit the region last weekend.
The newspaper added that search and rescue operations are still continuing, noting that the floods destroyed more than 65,000 houses and five dams.
The death toll previously announced by the military junta on Friday was 33 people, with more than 235,000 people displaced.
Large areas of agricultural land in the central regions of the country were under water, including around the capital, Naypyidaw.
