New Delhi, March 31: The death toll rose to 35 on Friday after a floor collapsed at a temple in Indore. Indore Collector Dr Illayaraja T said that search teams have rescued 14 people so far.

The roof of an under-floor well at the Beleshwar Mahadev Jholilal temple collapsed during a ritual on the occasion of Ram Nomi on Thursday.

Collector of Indore told PTI, “The bodies of 35 people have been recovered from the Jai incident. Search and rescue operations led by the National Disaster Response Force, State Disaster Response Force and Army personnel have recovered the bodies. We are still looking for a missing person.”

The rescue operation started at 12:30 pm on Thursday and is still ongoing.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has ordered an investigation into the incident.

“I have given instructions to investigate the incident,” Chauhan said. At the time of this tragic accident, the government stands with the families of all those whom we could not save.”
