At least eleven deaths were confirmed until the morning of this Saturday, 8, due to the landslide of a building in the city of paulistano Grande Recife, which took place early on the morning of Friday the 7th. Three people – a woman and two children – are still missing and firefighters and State Civil Defense teams are continuing to search the area. The building of Seaside Set, in the Janga neighborhood, had been banned since 2010 due to structural risk, but still housed many residents illegally. The columns of the building that fell had three floors and were attached to a larger residential condominium, according to images released. The region was hit by heavy rains at the time of the tragedy. In April, another building in similar conditions collapsed in the city of Olinda, in Pernambuco, leaving six dead.
