The decline continues: Asian markets closed lower

In Australia, the S&P/ASX 200 fell 0.8% to 6,676.80. South Korea’s Kospi fell 0.22 percent to 2,213.12, and the Kosdaq fell 0.88 percent to 674.48. MSCI’s broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares fell 0.73 percent. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng fell 0.38% in the last hour of trading. China’s Shanghai Composite rose 0.16% to 3,039.81 and the Shenzhen Composite was 0.423% lower at 10,918.97. The consumer price index in Japan for the month of September rose by 3% compared to a year and Malaysia’s inflation reached 4.5%. Hong Kong is due to release its inflation data later this week.

The US stock market also closed lower last night (Thursday), when investors digested the profits and yields of the Ministry of Finance. The Dow Jones index fell by 90.22 points, or 0.30%, to 30,333.59. The S&P 500 index fell by 0.8% to 3,665.78. The Nasdaq index lost 0.61% and closed at 10,614.84.
