The decline in the prices of most basic foodstuffs, fruits and vegetables on the exchanges in the country continues this week as well, according to the data in the weekly bulletin of the State Commission for Commodity Exchanges and Markets (DKSBT), reports BTA.

The market price index (MPI), which reflects the movement of wholesale food prices in our country, decreased by 0.18 percent to 2,260 points during the week. Last week the ITC was at the level of 2,264 points. The base level of the ITC – 1,000 points – is from 2005.

Imported cucumbers are cheaper by 8.3 percent to BGN 2.33 per kilogram, while greenhouse cucumbers are down by 5 percent to BGN 3.03 per kilogram. The price of tomatoes (import) is also lower – by 0.3 percent to BGN 3.05 per kilogram. Potatoes rose in price by 4.4 percent and are traded at BGN 1.41 per kilogram.

Carrots maintain their price of BGN 1.12 per kilogram. Ripe onions (import) rose in price by 2.1 percent to BGN 1.45 per kilogram, and cabbage by 8.3 percent to BGN 1.30 per kilogram.

The price of imported apples is higher by 1.1 percent and they are traded at BGN 1.80 per kilogram, and lemons – by 0.5 percent to BGN 2.07 per kilogram. Bananas rose in price by 2.2 percent to BGN 2.80 per kilogram, oranges by 8.9 percent to BGN 1.96/kg, and strawberries by 0.9 percent to BGN 4.70 per kilogram.

The price of cow’s cheese jumped by 0.3 percent to BGN 10.66 per kilogram, and “Vitosha” yellow cheese fell by 0.5 percent to BGN 16.65 per kilogram.

Yogurt (3 and over 3 percent fat content) and fresh milk (3 percent fat content) rose in price by 0.9 percent. Sour is bought at BGN 1.14 per 400 g bucket, and fresh at BGN 2.24 per liter.

Chicken meat becomes cheaper by 0.8 percent and is available at BGN 6.45 per kilogram, while eggs (size M) retain their price and are bought at BGN 0.36 per piece wholesale at the end of the week.

Rice fell by 0.6 percent and was traded at BGN 3.37 per kilogram, and lentils by 0.9 percent and was BGN 4.31 per kilogram, respectively. The price of ripe beans jumped by 0.5 percent to BGN 4.32 per kilogram.

Sugar rose in price by 0.5 percent and was traded at BGN 1.96 per kilogram, while oil fell by 1.1 percent to BGN 2.73 per liter. Type 500 flour maintains its price of BGN 1.35 per kilogram, while the price of cow’s butter (125 gram package) rises by 0.8 percent to BGN 2.62 per piece.
