Chennai: Tirunelveli Ambasamudram ASP transferred. Ambasamudram ASP Balveer Singh has been transferred. Action was taken against him for knocking out the teeth of ten people in police custody and kicking the testicles of two people.
ASP Balveer Singh was transferred by DGP Shailendra Babu. The action was taken following the allegations of brutal beating of the accused who were brought for investigation at stations like Ambasamudram, Kallitaikurichi and Wickramasingapuram.
On the recommendation of the police department, Tirunelveli Collector KP Karthikeyan ordered the sub-collector to conduct an investigation. Following this, the sub-collector sent summons to the police officers who were on duty and the victims of torture at Kallidaikurichi police station. He also asked the officials to submit documents including CCTV footage from the station and copy of the FIR registered against the victims.
