The cancellation of unpaid fines imposed by the government on those not vaccinated against the coronavirus was published on April 13 in the gazette.

A measure that had caused many reactions despite the obvious concern that existed in the first months of the pandemic, with many refusing to pay it.

The Government’s gazette by order today announced that these debts are written off, thus closing this chapter.

It should be noted, however, that those who have paid the fine will not get a refund.

Alexis Mitropoulos, Professor and President of ENYPEKK, also commented on the news.

“The fines of unvaccinated people are deleted! According to article 49 of Law 5102/2024 (Government Gazette A 55), which was published a while ago, the fines and interest that have been imposed are deleted from today, only to those vaccinated who have not paid them!

However, the fines are NOT returned to those unvaccinated who have already paid them”
