The Department of Science announces the thirteenth edition of the ‘Aragón Investiga Awards’

ZARAGOZA, 17 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Department of Science, University and Knowledge Society of the Government of Aragon has convened a new edition of the ‘Aragón Investiga Awards’, aimed at researchers and centers that develop their work in the community -or maintain special links with the Aragonese territory- – and who seek to publicly recognize their basic or applied research work, as well as its transfer. The deadline for submitting applications ends on July 21.

In this thirteenth edition, and after the changes in the regulatory bases of the awards, five categories of the Aragón Investiga Award have been announced: ‘Miguel Servet’ for Research Excellence, ‘Blanca Catalán de Ocón’ for Young People, ‘Fidel Pagés’ Entities ‘, Research with a Gender Perspective ‘María Andresa Casamayor’, and ‘Ramón y Cajal’.

The jury will be chaired by the head of the department responsible for research and will be made up of the Vice-Rector for Scientific Policy of the University of Zaragoza, Rosa Bolea, representing the Veterinary, Agriculture and Biomedicine area; the director of the Institute of Heritage and Humanities, Concepción Lomba, Social Sciences area; the CSIC delegate in Aragon, María Jesús Lázaro, Technology and Chemistry; and professors Carmen Marcuello, Social Economy, and Ángel Lanas, Health Sciences and Health Innovation Management.

As a novelty, in this edition, the jury may propose ex officio candidacies in those cases in which no proposals have been submitted and provided that it is considered that there are sufficient merits.

The ‘Aragón Investiga Award’ will consist of an accrediting diploma and a commemorative figure, as well as the dissemination of scientific reviews in different publications. The communication of the decision and the delivery of the prizes will be made in a public act.

FIVE NOMINATIONS

The Aragón Investiga Award for Research Excellence ‘Miguel Servet’ recognizes researchers who have distinguished themselves for their research career of excellence, carrying out nationally and internationally recognized work in the field of basic or applied research; or technology transfer.

On the other hand, the Aragón Investiga Prize for Young People ‘Blanca Catalán de Ocón’ is intended for researchers under 35 years of age on the date of publication of the call and will be awarded considering not only the scientific achievements achieved, but also the importance and potential of the lines undertaken.

The age limit will be increased for a duration equivalent to the period of maternity or paternity leave, adoption, pregnancy and lactation that is accredited. Likewise, in the case of research personnel with a disability equal to or greater than 33%, the age limit will be extended to 40 years.

The category, the Aragón Research Award for ‘Fidel Pagés’ Entities, distinguishes those public or private organizations known for their support for research or the transfer of knowledge in Aragon.

The Aragón Investiga Prize for Research with a Gender Perspective ‘María Andresa Casamayor’ is aimed at research projects in any area of ​​knowledge that contribute this perspective as the object of study, whether they are natural or legal persons.

Lastly, the Aragón Investiga ‘Ramón y Cajal’ Award addresses relevant research in the following subcategories, aligned with the priority research areas of the Healthy Food Foundation and One Health (ARAID); Health, Biotechnology and Biomedicine; Climate, Energy and Sustainable Mobility; Digital and Space Technologies; New Materials and Technologies for the Industry; Social and Cultural Development.
