The departments of Nord and Pas-de-Calais placed on orange vigilance for snow and ice

by time news

And here we go for the… cold. Farewell to the sunny weather of last weekend, the winter temperatures are back. Météo-France placed the departments of Nord and Pas-de-Calais on orange vigilance for snow and ice, in its bulletin published at 6 a.m.

A “significant snow episode for the season”, specifies the meteorological service. Snowfall should be in place in these departments from the middle of the night from Thursday to Friday, by the Belgian borders. Over the entire episode, a snow depth of 3 to 5 cm is expected, or even locally 5 to 10 cm. Traffic conditions could be disrupted.

Vigilance in the Somme

Orange vigilance could be extended during the day towards the Somme, “this snowy episode progressing further south from the end of the night from Thursday to Friday”, indicates Météo-France.

The disturbance pushed by a strong northerly wind which will tumble Thursday afternoon on the regions bordering the English Channel, with sometimes stormy showers which can locally hold on the ground, will be followed in the night from Thursday to Friday by more regular snowfalls , predicts Météo-France. These snowy precipitations will evacuate the south of Nord-Pas-de-Calais on Friday at the start of the afternoon.
