Josef Caban, the new chief designer of British-based Chinese brand MG, unveiled the Cyber GTS electric coupe concept at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The car is not far from the production lines because it uses the technology of the production Cyberster roadster, replacing the canvas roof with a steel one.

The 51-year-old Slovak is one of the most famous contemporary car designers, with cars such as the Skoda Superb, Skoda Kodiaq, Skoda Octavia, Volkswagen Lupo, Seat Arosa and Bugatti Veyron to his credit. Since April, Kaban has been working for the Chinese MG Motor, and will also participate in the production of other brands of the Chinese concern SAIC.

Interestingly, the GTS electric coupe also has hinged butterfly doors. They are controlled electrically using buttons. The design does not look aggressive. “There are a lot of sports cars that have too much tension,” Caban says. “You feel like they’re going to explode at any moment. However, stress should not be emanating from this car.”

In its production version, the Cyber GTS can be sold in two modifications. With a rear electric motor with a power of 234 kW, or in a more powerful two-motor version with a power of 375 kW and a torque of 725 Nm. Thus, the Cyberster becomes the most powerful MG of all time with acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds. The expected mileage is about 450 km.
