During this ceremony, organized as part of the third edition of the Public Diplomacy Trophies, in the presence of a host of personalities from the political, economic, cultural and media spheres, nine distinctions were awarded to non-governmental actors as a reward for their efforts in the service of consolidating the Kingdom’s positioning on the African continent and beyond, and the consecration of national identity, each in their area of competence.
In a statement to the press on the sidelines of this event, the president of the Diplomatic Foundation, Abdelati Habek, affirmed that the Public Diplomacy Trophies aim to “highlight the efforts of several non-governmental and civil actors, who through their actions, have contributed to the consolidation of Morocco‘s influence and to making its potential known on an international scale through serious, courageous and voluntary initiatives”, noting that “soft diplomacy” is in line with the High Directives from His Majesty King Mohammed VI to support and strengthen diplomatic action.
In this regard, Mr. Habek stressed that public diplomacy supports official diplomatic work, noting that the evolution of diplomatic action opens the way to parallel diplomacy through contributions from economic, intellectual and media actors. to raise the Kingdom to the rank of leading countries in several areas.
For his part, the Secretary General of the Council of the Moroccan Community Abroad, Abdellah Boussouf, who was awarded the Culture Prize, said he was honored by this distinction, affirming that Moroccan culture is among the richer, more diverse and unique due to its religious and cultural plurality, as anchored in the Moroccan Constitution.
He added that this award represents both an honor and a commitment to continue efforts to defend Moroccan culture, rich in its human values, moderation and respect for others.
Thus, the International Prize was awarded to the Secretary General of the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF), Louise Mushikiwabo, as well as to the Secretary General of the Arab Maghreb Union, Taïeb Baccouche.
The president of the “Bank of Africa” group, Othman Benjelloun, was honored with the Economy and Finance Prize, while the Human Rights Prize was awarded to Amina Bouayach, president of the National Council for Human Rights. Man (CNDH).
The Sports Prize was awarded to national coach Walid Regragui, the Culture Prize to the Secretary General of the Council of the Moroccan Community Abroad, Abdellah Boussouf, and the Science Prize to the neuroscience professor, Abdelhamid Benazzouz.
The Industry Prize was awarded to Nassim Belkhayat, general director and founder of New Motors, and the Media and Social Communication Prize to the director of the “MDM 13” site in Spain, Abdelkader Maghnass.
The committee of elders for this year’s award consisted of former ministers and eminent persons.
