Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced today (Tuesday) that the 10 districts affected by the earthquakes in southern Turkey will be designated as disaster areas, and declared a state of emergency in these districts for three months.

Erdogan noted that 70 countries offered his country assistance in locating and rescuing the injured, and said that he plans to open hotels in the tourist center of Antalya for the temporary housing of people who were forced to leave their homes due to the earthquakes. Erdogan added that the death toll in the earthquake has reached 3,549 people.

Also, after it was reported yesterday that Christian Atso, the offensive player of the Turkish football team, did not make contact after the earthquake, and there is fear for his life – this morning it was reported in the Turkish media that the football player was found among the ruins and was taken to the hospital. It is currently unknown what his medical condition is, but according to the Turkish journalists, his life is not in danger.
