About ten years ago, the Deauville resident Anthony Bosch officiated as a territorial agent in Île-de-France. A boxing lover, he trained in a club in Levallois-Perret. He was then suffering from severe pain and the diagnosis fell! “I carry the HLA (Human Leukocyte Antigene) B27 gene. I have axial ankylosing spondylitis, a progressive inflammatory disease that affects my joints and organs. After a few months, I was unable to resume boxing, ”recalls this resident of Eure. And yet, on Saturday June 24, during the Grand gala of boxing organized at the Palais des sports Kindarena in Rouen, Anthony Boscher will step into the ring to fight.

Living in Beuzeville with his wife and two children for five years now, Anthony Boscher has seen the disease evolve “until I find myself stuck in a wheelchair and walking with a cane”. “The disease is gaining momentum, but I didn’t want to stop there! Always passionate about boxing, I said to myself: Why not challenge me to one last fight. He therefore took a license at the Boxing Bodybuilding Club of Beuzeville. There, he met the professional boxer Lancelot Proton de la Chapelle: “He immediately warned me that the pace would be sustained. This gave me even more motivation for this crazy bet”.

Since January 2022, Anthony Boscher has therefore been training twice a week during a session of cardio, techniques, agility and facing the opponent. “The first training lasted thirty minutes. Now I want an hour and a half. For the second session, I put on the gloves with the other licensees. I complete my physical condition by cycling 30 kilometers every weekend. I should be ready to face during a fight of three times two minutes my opponent, a young boxer from Aigle (Orne) who was recently diagnosed with the same disease. »

According to his trainer, “Anthony has progressed enormously and this thanks to training that is not so suitable, except in the event of severe pain. I don’t want to put it in a box. I treat him like an average boxer and you can see that he has already put on the gloves, especially during the shadow sessions (boxing in a vacuum). I find it fantastic to see these people struggle with their pathology and who do not give up in the face of life’s difficulties through the noble art and all these values around sport, discipline and respect. Anthony is a beacon of hope.

It is also this message that Anthony Boscher wants to convey to the general public, in addition to the sporting achievement: “I immediately wanted to make a documentary film of it. A team of seven videographers was formed who followed me at home, at work and in the boxing gym with the ups and downs. A form of countdown to the final gong, a story that is written as crises and laughs. With, I want to raise public awareness by distributing it to associations, schools and also to health professionals. I would like this film to give strength to all the sick. Show that the disease is fought as an adversary and against oneself. It’s also my way of fighting against omerta. The first broadcast is expected for December 2023.
