The environmental collective Les Uprisings of the Earth (SLT) was dissolved on Wednesday June 21 in the Council of Ministers, announced the same day the Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin.

“Under the guise of defending the preservation of the environment”SLT “incites the commission of sabotage and material damage, including by violence”justifies the government in the decree of dissolution, by listing a series of actions of the collective having led to “material destruction” et “physical attacks against the police”.

Responding the day before to a question from Renaissance deputy Thomas Rudigoz in the National Assembly, who denounced the violence that had occurred between the police and environmental activists during the demonstration against the Lyon-Turin rail link, the Minister of the Interior defended the decree of dissolution of the SLT by arguing that“no cause justifies injuring police and gendarmes”.
Gérald Darmanin, had initiated this dissolution procedure on March 28, a few days after the violent clashes which took place in Sainte-Soline (Deux-Sèvres) during a demonstration against a giant reservoir of water for irrigation, which had caused many injuries among the demonstrators and the police.

Remained blocked for more than two months, the procedure moved last week, after the deterioration in particular of a vegetable farm in Saint-Philbert-de-Grand-Lieu (Loire-Atlantique) during a traveling demonstration against the exploitation sand for industrial purposes in Saint-Colomban, at the request of SLT in particular. The collective was present this weekend in the demonstration against the Lyon-Turin tunnel project.
