“So far, we haven’t had mushroom or berry poisoning this year, only a few cases due to food, but poisoning due to alcohol abuse has already become our daily routine,” says the host.

According to V. Krušnienė, there are also cases of malignancy, when the so-called full-time users of alcohol, having increased their alcohol intake, call an ambulance, and then they are brought to the Reception – emergency department, where after examining such patients, it turns out that their health or life-threatening conditions are still there is no, and how sober patients go home on their own.

“It’s disappointing because patients with very serious health problems are constantly waiting outside the door. The same alcohol also causes other damage – it causes heart work and blood circulation disorders, we have to provide help to intoxicated patients with serious injuries and traumas,” says the head of the Reception – emergency department.

Dr. V. Krušnienė emphasizes that it is especially important during hot weather to responsibly comply with hygiene requirements when preparing food. Eggs, chicken, fish, and various dairy products pose the greatest risk of poisoning, especially when kept warm and out of the sun. Infectious diseases can also be caused by a basic lack of hygiene. Food sold on the street and on beaches should be evaluated very carefully.

Symptoms of poisoning – vomiting, headache, severe abdominal pain, weakness, diarrhea, fever. You should consult a doctor if the symptoms of poisoning persist for several days.

When treating at home, you should drink more water, cool tea with lemon juice, lie down more, and you should also help yourself by using preparations that improve digestion.
