The doctor revealed why people living together often do not infect each other with coronavirus

The head of the therapeutic department of the Israeli hospital Shamir Asaf Arofe, infectious disease doctor Galina Goltsman, said that there are several factors according to which people living together may not be infected with coronavirus from each other. The first of these is due to the fact that people who do not become infected have already been ill asymptomatically. They have a high antibody titer.

According to the specialist, recently, because of the Omicron strain, this has been seen everywhere. For example, a person comes in with a broken leg after riding a bicycle, and he is automatically tested for coronavirus in the emergency room and Omicron is detected. At the same time, the patient did not feel it at all.

The second factor, she says, is related to a certain percentage of people who have immunity to a number of respiratory viruses. This is due to genetic predisposition.

Another factor is the degree of contagiousness of the diseased. The patient may be sick, but in itself is not a carrier of a huge number of viruses. Thus, there is no exact answer.

As Holtzman added, the situation in which people living together can not be infected from each other is natural for all infectious diseases. For example, during the plague epidemic in Europe, eight people died in one family, but one remained alive.

Earlier, Israeli scientists told who is better protected from re-infection with coronavirus. They noted that the only way to insure against re-infection with coronavirus is vaccination. At the same time, no vaccine one way or another gives a 100% guarantee of protection against infection. However, Israeli scientists have found that obese patients have a higher sustained immune response and protection against disease compared to overweight or normal weight people.
