Friendly rivalry among German old punks: This can also be seen again in a new video by the Berlin doctors – the Toten Hosen are somehow part of it.

Berlin (dpa) – The Berlin punk rock band Die Ärzte has staged their song “Kraft” from the new album “Dunkel” as a speaking piece – with beer from the Toten Hosen.

In the video entitled “Tresenkraft”, drummer Bela B (58) orders a “coconut beer” in a pub and receives a bottle of “Hosen Hell”. The people of Düsseldorf brought the bottom-fermented beer onto the market three years ago with an old town brewery.

Guitarist and anti-alcoholic Farin Urlaub (57) orders “Soylent Green” as a drink, the only colored element in the black and white video. Before they founded Die Ärzte, Bela B and Farin Urlaub played in the Berlin punk band Soilent Grün in the early 1980s. Bassist Rodrigo González (53) wants “still water” in the video and receives a cocktail overloaded with decoration.

The Düsseldorf-based Toten Hosen and Die Ärzte mostly avoided each other for a long time and have fostered a rather friendly rivalry for years. Trouser drummer Vom Ritchie last appeared in the “Noise” video, the first single from the new Doctors album. There Bela B pulls him away from the drums after a few seconds.

In «Tresenkraft» the doctors philosophize – synchronized by well-known speakers – based on holiday «Kraft» text for around four minutes about the power of words. Meanwhile, Bela B holds a bottle with the Toten Hosen’s beer in her hands.
