The International Catholic Film Festival announced the premiere in Mexico and Peru of the film “Mother Teresa: There is no greater love”, a production of the Knights of Columbus and Goya Films, on April 27.

The film narrates the life of Holy Mother Teresa of Calcutta, as well as the apostolic work of the Missionaries of Charity in the five continents, serving the poorest of the poor.

The docufilm also presents previously unpublished letters and documents.

The Nobel Peace Prize winner, who hid from the cameras and even offered her photos to save souls from purgatory, returns to the big screen by director David Naglieri, winner of multiple Emmy awards along with producer Tim Moriaty.

The film will be released in May in Central America, Puerto Rico and Uruguay.

Pope Francis recommends watching the film

In a letter sent by the Holy Father to the Supreme Knight of the Knights of Columbus, Patrick. E. Kelly, the Holy Father, expresses his wish that “the documentary does a lot of good to all those who watch it and arouses in them the desire for holiness.”

“That holiness that, as Benedict XVI recalled, using Mother Teresa as an example, we cannot imagine apart from love of neighbor: ‘if in my life I omit attention to others, wanting only to be ‘pious’ and fulfill my ‘religious duties’, the relationship with God also withers. It will only be a correct relationship, but without love”, continues the Pontiff.

“Only my availability to help my neighbor, to show him my love, makes me sensitive before God. Only my availability to help my neighbor, to show him love, also makes me sensitive to God. Only service to others opens my eyes to what God does for me and how much he loves me”, the Pope continued in his letter.

The Holy Father also cites the encyclical of Benedict XVI, God is Loveand affirms that “the saints —let us think of Mother Teresa of Calcutta, for example— have acquired their capacity to love their neighbor in an ever renewed way thanks to their encounter with the Eucharistic Lord and, vice versa, this encounter has acquired realism and depth precisely in their service to others.”

The Vicar of Christ thanked the Supreme Knight of the Knights of Columbus for “promoting this type of initiative that helps, in a creative way, to make zeal for evangelization accessible, especially for the younger generation, promoting the desire to follow Christ.” .
