Boukari Tarnagda presents from March 29 to April 1, 2023 a theatrical play called “the double” which is an adaptation of the novel “Frère d’âme” by the writer David Diop. The play was performed for the first time on the night of this Wednesday, March 29, 23 at the Carrefour international de theater de Ouagadougou (CITO).

In this piece, the comedian artist Boukari Tarnagada represents the character of Alpha Ndiaye. For more than 40 minutes, the artist invites himself into a theatrical monologue. He immerses his audience with him in a contrast, a kind of melancholy that gnaws at him, but also a feeling of humanism and satisfaction through the stories of the adventures of a war that took his “more than brother” from him and he is trying to avenge. The crystallization of his remorse leads him to develop a ferocity vis-à-vis the enemy during the war. He wants to be innocent.

The piece in question evokes the life of two friends, Mademba Diop and Alpha Ndiaye. In view of the solidity of the bond of their friendship, these two friends are called the ” two more than brothers “. The two friends are also joking parents. Went to war together, Alpha Ndiaye mocked Mademba Diop’s totem. ” The Diops weren’t smart to choose a pan or a crowned crane as their totem he scoffed. ” I told him again about his totem. Volatile pride on the morning of his death, just before the captain whistled the attack. It’s because of me that he left first of all he argues.

Regrets Diop will be killed and disemboweled during the fighting. Alpha Ndiaye does not want to be held responsible for his death. ” That day Regrets didn’t think much” he discharges himself before resigning himself by saying, “it is not the enemy opposite with the blue eyes who killed Regrets Diopit’s me ! ».

At the end of the show, spectators found the piece interesting. According to Nelly Bellemyegré, spectator, also assistant in theater studies, “you have to know how to appreciate the work of the actor because holding on for more than 40 minutes alone is already a challenge to take up “. She also says she appreciates the text and the topical theme.

Ignace Sangaré, spectator and specialist in oral literature, says he noticed that this piece leads the viewer to reflect on conflict, war and its impacts. ” When we follow events like that, we come out a little with a lot of analysis “, he said.

For Boukari Tarnagda, this presentation is related to current events. It sends a message of solidarity. ” We see on social networks people say everything and anything, say everything and its opposite. Elsewhere, we have seen countries go through wars, but people have remained united. When we are at war, in the discourse, in the narrative, we must not be dispersed he explained.

Comedian artist, Boukari Tarnagda is also a doctor in theatrical studies. His monologue will be repeated on March 30, 2023, until April 1, 2023 at the CITO located near the municipal stadium in Ouagadougou.
