The DPRK confirmed that it launched missiles on September 15. North Korea was training a new railway missile regiment.
“The missile exercises were carried out to confirm the effectiveness of the railway missile system, deployed for the first time, and to assess the combat readiness and combat capabilities of the newly created regiment,” the North Korean state agency TsTAK said in a statement (quoted by TASS).
The launch of missiles in the DPRK was previously reported by Japan. Tokyo claims they were launched towards the Sea of Japan, flew about 800 km and fell outside Japan’s exclusive economic zone. Late last week – Saturday and Sunday – North Korea tested a new long-range cruise missile.
