The draw for the match between Bulgaria and El Salvador in World Group II of the Davis Cup, an unofficial world team tennis championship for men, will be drawn in the Plovdiv Municipality building at 12:00 on September 13 (Friday).
The ceremony will be attended by the mayor of Plovdiv Kostadin Dimitrov and the two-time Olympic rowing champion Nikolay Bukhalov, who will determine the opponents in the individual meetings.
The matches will be played on clay on September 14 and 15, and the entrance for spectators will be free until the capacity of the stands of TC “Lokomotiv” is filled. The first day will feature two singles, pitting one team’s first racket against the other’s second racket. The second day will see the doubles match and the second two singles. Before the games start on Saturday, there will be an official opening ceremony. The hosts recommend that the spectators take their seats in the stands about half an hour before the start of the matches.
If they win, Bulgaria will play in February next year for promotion to World Group I. If they lose, again in February 2025, they will have to go through a barrage to stay in World Group II.
On September 12 (Thursday) at 10:45, the official press conference will be held before the meeting. The event will be held on the courts of TC “Lokomotiv” in Plovdiv (4 Yasna Polyana Street).
Valentin Dimov (team captain), Tikhomir Grozdanov (assistant coach) and those selected in the national team Pyotr Nesterov, Yanaki Milev, Alexander Donski, Iliyan Radulov and Ivan Ivanov will participate in the briefing from the Bulgarian side. El Salvador will feature Yari Bernardo (captain) and rival star Marcelo Arevalo (Roland Garros men’s doubles champion in 2022 and 2024 and doubles semi-finalist at the US Open earlier this month).
