Lawyer Jorge Rolón Luna, who for some time has been carrying out studies on drug traffickers and acts of hit men, said that the power and dimension that drug trafficking groups have acquired have significant political and economic implications. To a large extent, it is due to the connections they have with the State itself.
“It is useless to give more fire power or budget to the Police, if the main problem is forgotten, which is the complicity that these groups have with various areas of the State. Drug trafficking has characteristics as a business that make it necessary for there to be complicity, ”he asserted.
“The most serious thing is that some political parties nominate drug traffickers for public office, and the worst thing is that the Supreme Court does not shake off one of its most corrupt members in recent times and on top of that it gives him permission,” he warned, referring to Minister Antonio Frets.
