The Duomo of Milan as you’ve never seen it before. Starting today, all visitors to the monumental complex will have two new digital opportunities to immerse themselves in the discovery of the cathedral, symbol of the city in the world and of its history. Through the official website duomomilano.it and the ticket offices of the monumental complex, visitors can book a virtual experience to explore the Candoglia quarry, source of the cathedral, through special viewers available at the Duomo Museum or enjoy a special immersive guided tour wearing smart glasses which, thanks to augmented reality technology, will give shape to images and videos accompanying the itinerary. A digital path made possible by the Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo di Milano thanks to the contribution of the Cariplo Foundation and the support of American Express.

Our enhancement proposals, however, they are always aimed at both tourists and citizens of Milan, since we are convinced that only starting from this dimension of ‘home of the Milanese’, is it possible to understand the story of a story that has been renewing itself for 636 years. they represent a further step in that digital journey that we have undertaken to make the history of the Duomo ever more accessible, with its 3,400 statues, its innumerable facade projects, the 15,800 pipes of its organ”.
Thanks to the viewers, in a few seconds it will be possible to find yourself in the heart of Val D’Ossola and admire a breathtaking panorama or experience the dizzying experience of a walk suspended on a platform once used for handling blocks, at over 20 meters in height . Furthermore, through the smartglasses, it will be possible to admire the archaeological area of the Milan Cathedral, with the Baptistery of San Giovanni alle Fonti, through a reconstruction that will lead up to the age of Ambrogio, discover the functioning of the cathedral sundial or the ascent of the Nivola up to the Santo Chiodo, exploring the faces and facades of the monument over the centuries.
