Speaking at a plenary session at the National Assembly, on the sidelines of the working visit to Senegal by the President of the House of Representatives, Rachid Talbi El Alami, at the head of a large parliamentary delegation, Mr. Diop stressed that the dynamic partnership established between the two countries is reflected in “significant progress” in numerous and varied sectors such as banking, services, road, maritime and air transport, agriculture, education, training, housing, telecommunications, energy, fisheries and trade.
In this sense, he specified that the Kingdom of Morocco is one of the main economic, financial, commercial, cultural and tourist partners of Senegal, welcoming the exemplary nature of bilateral cooperation, thanks to the enlightened vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and his brother President Macky Sall.
Highlighting the depth of the secular relations existing between the two brotherly countries, the Senegalese official indicated that the synergy in Moroccan-Senegalese relations is naturally found in international relations around the peace-security-solidarity trilogy.
In this regard, he highlighted the perfect identity of views in regional and international cooperation within the framework of a prospective and strategic vision, recalling the common actions for the maintenance of peace in different theaters of operations.
Mr. Diop also noted that the two countries jointly defend the return to a just, comprehensive and lasting peace in the Middle East and respect for the legitimate and inalienable rights of the Palestinian people.
In this context, he stressed the eminently constructive role played by HM King Mohammed VI, in his capacity as Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, and President Macky Sall, as Chairman of the Committee for the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People.
“This message of peace, solidarity and tolerance is our credo, we Moroccans and Senegalese, in the tumultuous march of the world,” he affirmed.
On the other hand, Mr. Diop noted that the two countries share through history, geography, culture, spirituality, a community of destinies, values and relations of mutual esteem between the two peoples under the wise leadership of the two Heads of State.
At the parliamentary level, the Senegalese official welcomed the quality of cooperation between the two countries, marked in particular by close collaboration in international bodies.
In this regard, the President of the National Assembly considered that inter-parliamentary cooperation constitutes a political lever for boosting the strategic partnership between Morocco and Senegal, praising the consultations and exchanges, the fruitful dialogue between the friendship groups of the two legislative institutions.
This plenary session took place in the presence of the Senegalese Minister of Labor, Social Dialogue and Relations with Institutions, and the Ambassador of HM the King to Senegal, Hassan Naciri.
During this working visit, marked by the signing of a Parliamentary Cooperation Protocol between the House of Representatives and the National Assembly, Mr. Talbi El Alami is accompanied by a strong parliamentary delegation composed of Messrs. Ahmed Touizi, president of the Authenticity and Modernity group, Abderrahim Chahid, president of the Socialist group -Ittihadi opposition-, Chaoui Belassal, president of the Constitutional Democratic and Social group, and Rachid Hamouni, president of the Progress and Socialism group.
The Moroccan parliamentary delegation was received on Wednesday evening at the Palace of the Republic by President Macky Sall.
