Following the outbreak of Ebola, Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has announced a lockdown in two districts. Night travel to the area and disembarkation at public places are prohibited. The first Ebola case was reported on September 20. So far, 58 people have been confirmed with the disease and 19 are in the central districts of Mubande and Kasanda and have not reached the capital Kampala, officials said. President Museveni announced the lockdown in Mubande and Kasanda on television. The lockdown has been announced for 21 days. The authorities announced that cargo traffic will be allowed into the region and all other modes of transport have been completely banned.

The President said that traditional methods of treatment against Ebola should not be used and those who adopt such methods and refuse to go to quarantine should be arrested. The main symptoms of Ebola, which is transmitted through bodily fluids, are fever, vomiting, diarrhea and bleeding. The last Ebola outbreak in Uganda was in 2019.
