Montecristi, Manabí. On the morning of July 9, 2024, the President of the Republic of Ecuador, Daniel Noboa Azin, fulfilled his agenda in Montecristi, a canton in the Manabí province. From this place, he reaffirmed his commitment to the priority and vulnerable population by announcing the inclusion of new citizens as beneficiaries of the bonuses delivered in the New Ecuador and the Human Development Credits (CDH), ensuring the expansion of the social network.

During his visit to this town, the president handed out some of these new bonuses and loans. In Manabí alone, 3,444 people have been included in bonuses and pensions during the Government of the New Ecuador and 1,913 Human Development Credits have been delivered with an investment of USD 1.5 million.

The Head of State pointed out that after receiving a devastated country and being forced to take difficult measures, “it is time to give people what they need: employment, social assistance, security and also the hope that better days are coming, because we are working for a New Ecuador.” These decisions are part of the economic and social inclusion policies that the government is promoting, guaranteeing a minimum level of protection and encouraging job creation.

For example, with the Human Development Credit (CDH), the government of New Ecuador resolves by facilitating access to microcredits for productive ventures, “promoting the progress of small artisans, small producers,” said the President. This approach not only provides access to the formal financial system, but also empowers citizens through training in soft skills, financial education and digital tools.

Evelyn Robles, a new beneficiary of the CDH, was able to access this benefit to “start a clothing manufacturing business (…). That was always my dream, but I didn’t have the capital,” she said. This morning, Evelyn received President Daniel Noboa at her home, who knocked on her door to confirm the assistance received by the Ministry of Economic and Social Inclusion (MIES). “I am not the only one with a dream, there are many women and with this loan they can achieve it,” said the beneficiary.

From December 2023 to June 2024, in Manabí there are 190,959 users authorized to one of the different regular non-contributory monetary transfers of the Ministry of Economic and Social Inclusion (MIES); which translates into 123,774 benefited family units. For this purpose, more than USD 98 million were invested in the indicated period.

President Noboa later led the Social Cabinet. During the meeting, the government’s progress in social matters was reviewed, especially in vulnerable areas: “It is essential to reach the sectors that have suffered the greatest amount of violence and abandonment and (Montecristi) is the ideal place to discuss the most urgent aspects that must be resolved,” he said.
