The Elder Scrolls VI in Early Stages of Development: Fans Will Have to Wait Years for More Information

Bethesda’s next installment in the popular Elder Scrolls series, The Elder Scrolls VI, has transitioned out of pre-production and is now in the early stages of development. This update comes from Pete Hines, the head of publishing at Bethesda, who revealed the progress of the highly anticipated game in an interview with gaming news site Vandal. However, fans will have to exercise patience as more information about the game won’t be released for a few years.

Hines emphasized that the entire focus of Bethesda’s studios is currently on their upcoming game, Starfield, which is set to release on September 6. He stated that their priority is to make Starfield the best it can be and that all developers are devoted to achieving this goal.

Although some developers are working on The Elder Scrolls VI simultaneously, Hines made it clear that fans shouldn’t expect any news about the game anytime soon. He assured that over time, more information will gradually be revealed, but it won’t be until “a few years after” Starfield’s launch.

Hines firmly stated, “So no, don’t expect to hear anything about The Elder Scrolls VI anytime soon. For now, Starfield is our focus, and it will continue to be our priority for some time until we speak about anything else.”

When asked about the development status of The Elder Scrolls VI, Hines clarified that the game has moved beyond the concept and pre-production phase and is now officially in the early stages of development. The announcement for The Elder Scrolls VI was made via a teaser trailer during E3 2018.

While fans await further updates, they can still indulge in The Elder Scrolls Online, as it regularly receives expansions. The latest expansion, titled Necrom, launched earlier this summer. Additionally, during a hearing related to Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard, Xbox boss Phil Spencer mentioned that The Elder Scrolls VI is expected to be released in “five-plus years.” He also expressed uncertainty regarding the platforms the game might be available on.

Fortunately, fans eager for a new RPG experience can look forward to Starfield, which is already available for preloading on Xbox and Steam. More details about Starfield have been shared in recent times, including the almost inclusion of a voiced protagonist and the game’s exploration of religion and the universe’s nature.

It is worth noting that a recent leaker who shared the first 45 minutes of Starfield prior to its launch now faces felony theft charges.

In another interview, Hines also defended the minimalist start screen of Starfield on social media. This came after a former Blizzard developer criticized the screen and claimed it demonstrated a lack of passion on the part of Bethesda developers.

Although it may be a while before The Elder Scrolls VI becomes a reality, fans can find solace in the upcoming release of Starfield and the continued support and expansions of The Elder Scrolls Online.
