The Election Commission has officially announced that the postal ballot for local government elections has been postponed until further notice.

This was stated in a notification signed by Election Commissioner Saman Sri Ratnayake.

The Chairman of the Election Commission said that this decision was taken due to non-availability of ballot papers on time.

In this case, the Election Commission said that the date for postal voting will be announced later.
